Shailaja Menon is an Author, Certified 500-hr ManasaYoga Teacher, Speaker, Freelance Writer and Editor who grew up in India but is now based in Malaysia. Her first book “Yoga Shakti”, Awaken Your Own Power, was published by Niyogi Books, New Delhi, India and launched in Malaysia on the 20 th of May 2018 by Dr. Shashi Tharoor, who also wrote the Foreword for her book. Padmashri Dr. P.R. Krishna Kumar, Managing Director of The Arya Vaidya Pharmacy (Coimbatore) Ltd., (AVP) Group of Institutions and Chancellor of Avanashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women launched her book in her hometown of Coimbatore, India on July 19 th 2018. It was since launched at the Kochi International Book Festival, Kerala on the 3 rd of November 2018 by Author Anand Neelakantan and at the Inner Wheel Club of Ottapalam, Kerala by Smt Lekha Balachandran. Shailaja’s second book, “Meditation Demystified” will also be published by Niyogi Books, New Delhi, India. The date of release has not yet been set due to the lock down. Shailaja has twenty years of teaching experience in the field of yoga. She teaches at her studio “Mat & Beyond Yoga Studio” in Selangor, Malaysia. She is also a prolific speaker and has been invited to speak at Rotary and Inner Wheel Clubs in Malaysia and India, Entrepreneurs Organisation (EO) Coimbatore Chapter, India as well as Hindu Economic Forum (HEF) Kochi, Kerala, India. She has also been a speaker at several educational institutions including the GRD Institutions, Coimbatore, Avanashilingam University for Women, Coimbatore, SSVM Group of Schools, Coimbatore, St. Teresa’s College, Kochi, Kerala, Krishna Institutions of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore, Arya Vaidya Pharmacy College, Coimbatore, Nani Nani Homes, Coimbatore, as well as Arthritis Foundation Malaysia, and Breast Cancer Foundation, Malaysia. She also had the opportunity to speak at the British Orchard School, Dubai. Shailaja conducts yoga workshops and retreats in Malaysia and India which encompass sessions on yoga philosophy based on the Yoga Sutras, asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), dhyana (meditation) and self-empowerment through deep introspection.
